REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Mexico wants to adopt Indonesia's technology in the field of agriculture, particularly palm oil processing, according to the rector of the Universidad Juerez Autenoma de Tabasco (UJAT), Dr. Jose Manuel Piea Gutierrez.
A press statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico received by Antara here on Tuesday revealed that these remarks were made at an international joint research meeting with Indonesian academics in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico.
At the meeting, the UJAT rector and the rectors of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi, and Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto, agreed to boost cooperation on educational issues and technology transfers.
Guti?rrez said UJAT also plans to transfer its own agricultural technology to Indonesia, especially for palm oil processing.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico, Yusra Khan, encouraged the meeting's participants to exchange experiences and explore the various opportunities for cooperation that could be forged between the three institutes.
The Ambassador also invited the UJAT academic community to study at various universities in Indonesia and conduct joint research.
The scientific meeting is one of the initiatives mentioned in the Memoranda of Understanding signed between UJAT and IPB in 2013 and between UJAT and ITB in 2014.
UJAT, established in 1861, is one of the largest leading universities in Tabasco.
The university is also included on the list of Mexico's best universities, based on ratings from the country's Ministry of Education.
Complementing Indonesia's foreign policy efforts, UJAT has established international cooperation with a number of research and educational institutions and universities in Asia and Latin America, as well as in France and the United States.
