REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The World Bank has committed to improve cooperation with Indonesia, including in assisting the country in its infrastructure development programs.
"President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim met with President Joko Widodo and conveyed his commitment to be Indonesia's development partner," Indonesian Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said here on Wednesday.
The minister added that the cooperation between Indonesia and the World Bank was primarily in three sectors.
"We are focusing on three sectors---health, especially maternal and infant nutrition, improving businesses in Indonesia, and tourism development," he added.
President of the World Bank Kim noted that the discussion with President Joko Widodo covered every sector, including Indonesia's rapidly-increasing economic growth.
He also affirmed that the World Bank will open its representative office in Jakarta.
"After discussing with President Joko Widodo, I can see that infrastructure development in Indonesia is one of the most important sectors in the country," Kim remarked.
