REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- Head of Department of Manpower and Transmigration of West Kalimantan M Ridwan said that starting from 2014 up to May 2015, about 1,100 Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) from West Kalimantan were deported from Malaysia.

"About 2,500 people were deported through Entikong gate and over 1,100 were from the original of West Kalimantan," said Ridwan, on Friday, May 15.

He explained that the number of TKI who were deported by the Malaysian government was because of the weakness of the briefing given by the recruitment agency or other parties who distributed their status.

He himself admitted the difficulty to carry out surveillance, because many people who would be the workers used the services of who were not official. Even there are people who risked to entry by himself via small roads in Kalimantan border or follow his friends which previously had been working there.

"That would be a problem, because it is difficult to do the monitoring. But, if through official channels, we can monitor them," he said.

He mentioned, for the year 2014, there were about 2,449 workers who were deported and over 900 people were society of West Kalimantan. That number continues to grow until May this year.
