REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMBON -- More than two thousand military personnel will be deployed to provide security during President Joko Widodo's visit to the eastern Indonesian city of Ambon, according to Pattimura Military Commander Major General Wiyarto.
"We are going to deploy a total of 2,665 military personnel to secure the one-day visit by President Joko Widodo to Ambon and Buru district town of Namlea on May 7, 2015," Wiyarto revealed here on Tuesday.
He stated that the head of state is scheduled to visit the Maluku provincial city of Ambon to open the national working meeting of the Association of Municipal Governments (APEKSI) on Thursday morning and to visit Namlea to attend the rice and corn planting ceremony at Wanakarta village.
"There is no security problem concerning the president's visit to Ambon and Namlea," the Pattimura Military commander noted.
In the meantime, Ambon Mayor Richard Louhenapessy affirmed that the organizing committee of APEKSI national congress has made the necessary preparations to organize this strategic event.
"We are ready to make the national congress of APEKSI a great success," Richard said.
He pointed out that President Widodo will be accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Yembise, Transportation Minister Ignatius Jonan, and Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar, among others.
