REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GRESIK -- The Gresik hostage victim alias ZPA (9) has returned back to her home in Ngargosari Village, Kebomas, after receiving special treatment at the Semen Gresik Hospital, Gresik of East Java Province.

Budi, the father of ZPA, stated here on Wednesday (17/12) evening that the condition of his daughter had improved after receiving treatment, and she was deemed medically fit for discharge from the hospital.

However, the hospital has advised the family to get ZPA psychologically evaluated to treat the mental trauma inflicted due to the hostage situation.

Psychologist from Semen Gresik Hospital Dr Tholib Bahasuan had earlier emphasized that the victim needed special treatment to heal her mental trauma.

"The victim still needs intensive treatment. Thus, she needs assistance and support from the family and the person closest to her," Tholib remarked.

Tholib said the victim was limping when the medical officers brought her to the hospital. ZPA also suffered minor injuries due to knife gashes inflicted by the perpetrator.

According to Gunawan, the security officer in Tlogopatut 2 State Elementary School, the hostage incident took place after school hours.

The perpetrator Ahmad Fuad held ZPA in captivity with a knife pointed to her chest.

Gunawan said he had directly contacted an Indonesian Military officer who was on standby in 0817 Gresik Military Regional Command located across the school to initiate negotiation with Fuad.

"After the negotiation was held, Fuad brought the victim in a car to Tanjung Perak Seaport, Surabaya, East Java Province. The police and officers of the Indonesian Army (TNI) successfully rescued ZPA and killed Fuad in Jalan Veteran Gresik," Gunawan reported.
