REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Adnan Pandu Praja said law allowed the anti-graft body to supervise the Transjakarta corruption case. However, he called on the people on Tuesday to avoid drawing premature conclusions about the case.
He noted that the case had so far been handled by police and the Attorney General's Office (AGO). The AGO had been holding Udar Pristono, the former head of Jakarta's transportation service, along with another suspect, former director of the Agency of Technology Assessment and Application Prawoto, in connection with the case.
"The KPK was already handling the Transjakarta bus procurement case when the AGO named Udar a suspect. Based on our agreement with the AGO and police, if either of them was involved in a case, then the KPK will not get involved in it," he pointed out.
Deputy House Speaker Fadli Zon said that based on a complaint lodged by Rachmawati Soekarnoputri on October 9, 2014, the House of Representatives (DPR) would summon the KPK and AGO and sought their clarification and explanation regarding the case. In the complaint personally received by Fadli Zon, Rachmawati had accused President-elect Joko Widodo of involving in the Transjakarta case and also possessing bank accounts abroad.
