Philippine and E. Timorese leaders receive Indonesia's medal of honor

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has decided to award medals of state honor to Philippine President Benigno Simeon Aquino III and East Timorese Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, according to a presidential spokesman on Thursday.

The medals of Bintang Adipurna would be bestowed on them by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on the sideline of the the Philippine and East Timorese leaders' presence at the Bali Democracy Forum in Denpasar on Friday, Julian Aldrin Pasha said.

Pasha said the medals of honor were given to President Aquino and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao for their big contribution to the strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and the Phillipines and Indonesia and East Timor. The medal of Bintang Adipurna is the highest honor that the Indonesian government gives to foreign nationals.
