REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of the Paniai District General Elections Commission (KPU) Hamnawifa admitted that no voting activities took place during the presidential election on July 9, 2014, in Awabutu kampong, East Paniai Sub-district, Paniai District, Papua Province.

"It was moved to East Paniai sub-district, so the Awabutu public did it in the sub-district," Hamnawifa stated while giving his testimony during a hearing session concerning the election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK) here on Wednesday.

The decision to move the voting activities from Awabutu to East Paniai was approved by the Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu).

"The election supervisory personnel were present during the voting," he added.

On the previous day (Aug 12), Novela Nawipa, a witness of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto testified that no voting activities took place at the polling station in Awabutu kampong, East Paniai, Paniai district, Papua Province.

"There were no voting activities in our Awabutu kampong. There was no polling station and no polling booth," she claimed during the previous session at the MK.

Indonesia held its presidential election on July 9, 2014, which was contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo.

According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters had been registered, including 2,038,711 overseas voters, with 486,866 polling stations spread across the archipelago.

KPU Chairman Husni Kamil Manik had announced the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair as Indonesia's upcoming president and vice president after the election result showed that the duo had won 53.15 percent or 70,997,833 votes.

However, Prabowo Subianto challenged the election result and filed a lawsuit at the court last month, alleging structural, systematical, and massive frauds during the election process.

During the preliminary hearing on Wednesday, his lawyers claimed that millions of votes cast for the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair were lost due to irregularities at more than 52 thousand polling stations.
