REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Central government asked local government of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to anticipate hoisting of the red moon star flag of Free Aceh Movement (GAM). It was followed a peace agreement between central government and GAM in Helsinki on August 15.

"Commitment of Aceh people as part of Republic of Indonesia must be shown by not hoisting  the red moon star flag," Minister of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi said on Monday.

Fauzi said if Aceh people or GAM wanted to commemorate Helsinki peace agreement, then they could raise the Indonesian red white flag. Central government and local government in Aceh still have to discuss a law about GAM's flag. There is no agreement after several meetings conducted either in Jakarta or in Aceh
