Hundreds of Indonesian army personnels deployed to secure border

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - Indonesia sent 650 army personnels to the border area between Indonesia-Malaysia in Kalimantan on Tuesday. The soldiers were departed by ship 'KRI Teluk Ratai-509' to East Kalimantan.

They will serve as task force to secure Indonesia-Malaysia border area, especially at Nunukan, Tarakan and Malinau district. "They will serve for six to seven months," Military Commander II Sriwijaya, Major General Nugroho Widyotomo said on Tuesday.

Recently some security-related cases occur at the border areas. Such incident not only occured in Indonesian-Malaysian border, but also between the State of Sabah Malaysia and Sultanate of Sulu Philippines.
