About 100 thousand alumni of 212 rally to join Tamasya Al Maidah

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- About 100 thousand alumni of 212 rally have confirmed their participation on Tamasya (tour) Al Maidah verse 51. The event was initiated to escort the run-off of Jakarta gubernatorial election on Wednesday (April 19). 

"Muslims from Medan, Madura, Jakarta and its surroundings area and other regions are committed to come and oversee the election," Tamasya Al Maidah committee Chairman Ansufri ID Sambo said in a press conference at Al Ittihad Mosque, Tebet, South Jakarta, Sunday (April 16).

Ansufri assured Tamasya Al Maidah will be very peaceful just like the 212 rally held at the end of 2016. The participants to be deployed throughout the polling stations (TPS). Each polling station is targeted to be manned by 100 people. 

"We held this activity peacefully to escort Jakarta Muslims leader's victory," he said.

Furthermore, on Monday (April 17), Ansufri hold another press conference attended by national figure Amien Rais and Eggi Sudjana. He explained the tour is a continuation of previous rallies. "Series of rallies were staged as Muslims effort to ensure the blasphemer will be punished," he said.

The participant of Tamasya Al Maidah will monitor the election from 20 meters distance from the polling station. Therefore, Ansufri said the voters would not feel intimidated. "If someone is cheating, will only boo to support the authority to enforce the law," he said.

After the election, Ansufri said the participants of Tamasya Al Maidah will gather at Istiqlal Mosque.
