Indonesia records trade surplus of US$1.13 billion in March

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia enjoyed a trade surplus of US$1.13 billion in March due to a surplus of US$1.41 billion in the non-oil/gas sector, Chief of the National Statistics Agency (BPS) Suryamin said here on Wednesday (15/4).

He stated that the country's balance of trade was in surplus of US$1.13 billion due to a non-oil/gas trade surplus of US$1.41 billion and a deficit of US$279.2 million in the oil/gas sector.

In terms of trade volume, Suryamin pointed out that a surplus of 34.42 million tons was recorded in March 2015, driven by a surplus of 34.85 million tons in the non-oil/gas sector and a deficit of 0.43 million tons in the oil/gas sector.

Furthermore, he added that exports in March were recorded at US$13.71 billion, increasing by 12.63 percent from February's exports of US$12.17 billion.

Non-oil/gas exports in March were valued at US$11.72 billion and oil/gas exports, at US$1.99 billion.

In addition, imports in the period reached US$12.58 billion, up by 9.29 percent as compared to the imports in February, which were recorded at US$11.51 billion.

Oil/gas imports in March totaled US$2.27 billion, while non-oil/gas imports, US$10.31 billion.

Moreover, trade balance in the January to March period was still in surplus of US$2.43 billion, with the balance of non-oil/gas trade in surplus of US$2.83 billion, while that of oil/gas trade suffered a deficit of some US$400 billion, Suryamin pointed out.

The deficit in the crude oil trade reached US$93 million, while that in the trade of oil products was US$3.056 billion.

The gas trade balance in the January to March period recorded a surplus of US$2.748 billion, he affirmed.
