REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA -- A group of people who wear plaid shirt disrupted sermon led by cleric Alfian Tanjung at Seribu Island, North Jakarta on Wednesday (April 12). They came, swearing, and raging so the grand sermon could not be continued.

Cleric Alfian considered it as criminal act. He said the police was there but have not done much to maintain security equally.

The event then turned into chaos although the mass who followed grand sermon did not get provocated by the incident. "The police let the people with plaid shirt keep on insulting, swearing against Islam and Prophet Muhammad," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id on the same day.

According to cleric Alfian, the grand sermon was held as scheduled, which was at 14:00 pm. Two kilometers away from the location of grand sermon, there was another event held by supporter of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat as Jakarta gubernatorial candidate. "The people with plaid shirt then held their event at the same time with our's so there were two event with different backgrounds," he explained.

Cleric Alfian said the grand sermon was held with the spirit of dakwah. Alfian who was one of the speaker reminded the audience the guidance for Muslims in choosing a leader. "We were only conveying the fact," he said.
