Ahok-Djarot must take campaign leave: KPU

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner Ferry Kurnia Riskiansyah, has said the incumbent of Jakarta elections candidates should take campaign leave if they qualify for the second round of Jakarta gubernatorial election. "If (the incumbent) run a campaign, automatically the incumbent have to take a leave. We would see what kind of campaign mechanism in second round," Ferry said in KPU office, Central Jakarta, on Friday (Feb 17).

Based on the schedule of simultaneous elections in 2017, the announcement of voting results for the Jakarta Gubernatorial election implemented at the latest on February 27. After that, give the opportunity for three days to allow for candidates to file a complaint of the voting results.

However, if after three days there was no parties filing a complaint, then KPU would determine whether or not run the second round of elections. Ferry continued, if it occurs, in the second round of Jakarta gubernatorial elections there will also be a campaign process and debate of candidates. 

The campaign in the second round will focus to sharpen the vision and mission of governor candidates. "For the campaign, the technical will be coordinated later. Because, it depend on the slot of budget provided by the Jakarta city.

Technically included, if possible to create props campaign, how many times the debate of candidates, is it possible to create an ad. We will coordinate that," Ferry said.
