REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Pair of candidate number one, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni, was failed to join the second round of Jakarta regional election. The result of a number of quick count by some survey institution showed they stayed on the last position.

Executive Director of Indonesian Politic Indicator Burhanudin Muhtadi argued that the status of Agus as the son of the former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) did not give significant impact to the voters.

According to Burhanuddin, the act of SBY might be a boomerang for the electability of Agus-Sylvi because the tren showed it was continuously decreased. In fact, at the beginning their electability was always in the first position in every survey.

"I thought SBY interference in the election became a boomerang. The people in Jakarta saw Agus did not be autonomous in deciding his political act as a gubernatorial candidate," he said in the Indonesian Political Indicator in Menteng, Jakarta on Wednesday (Feb 15).

He added that a series of press conferences and tweets by SBY also decreased people interest in choosing Agus. "The press conferences were countless and the tweets were uncontrollable. Instead of turning the trend, it was continuously decreased. At last, we predict it was 19 percent but it was ended only at 17 percent. It meant it could not avoid the decreasing trend," he saif.
