BI: Indonesia's economic growth is 4.9 percent in third quarter

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia projected Indonesia's economic growth in third quarter of 2015 to 4.9 percent. Overall, the economic growth until the end of the year was projected in the range of 4.7 to 5.1 percent.

Executive Director, Head of the Department of Economic and Monetary Policy of Bank Indonesia, Juda Agung, revealed an increase in economic growth in the third quarter of 2015. It was based on data, for example, cement sales that increased by 14 percent.

In addition, imports of capital goods also rose significantly, for example, imports of iron and steel rose by 60 percent. It showed that the government's capital expenditure has increased and accelerated.

"It seems like the economy has rebound again," he said, at the headquarters of Bank Indonesia in Jakarta, Friday (25/9).

Furthermore, economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2015 was projected at over 5 percent. It was driven by government spending that has begun to rise.

"With a more positive outlook, the equity market is also expected equity to be better so that outflow from the stock market may be on the wane," he explained.

Earlier, Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded economic growth in the second quarter of 2015 to 4.67 percent, year on year (yoy). Meanwhile, the cumulative growth in the first half of 2015 was 4.7 percent.
