REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Dino Patti Djalal emphasized the importance of having potential cooperation with India.
"Getting India right is a big task for Indonesian foreign policy," said Djalal on discussion "Getting India Right: How Indonesia Can Harness Strategic and Economic Opportunities" here, Friday.
The good relations between Indonesia and India were of mutual interest so it could be a priority in foreign policy. India today was not only well-known for its culture but also for its technology, Djalal said.
"The Information Technology sector in India is remarkable for its potential," he said.
Education was also a strategic sector because India had some good higher education institutions, he added. India and Indonesia could also cooperate in the defense sector because India has a sizeable military force in Asia and also a strong defense force.
"Particularly for the Navy, we have to cooperate with them," he said.
Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Gurjit Singh said they wanted cooperation at the business to business level because such cooperation between governments is good.
"We look at Indonesia much more seriously for bigger investment," said Singh.
