REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claims to be one of the best ins titutions to eradicate corruption in the world. The Deputy Chairman of KPK, Bambang Widjodjanto, said similar institutions from other countries often seeking advice from KPK.
“KPK often becomes the referral of success beside ICAC in Hongkong. Many countries in the world specifically ask KPK to be the adviser on building corruption eradication institution,” Widjodjanto said on Tuesday.
He added Indonesia was an example of countries for its effort in eradication corruption where the public participation was high. The statement seems to deny some allegation towards KPK’s capability in fighting corruption. KPK is often accused of being a “super institution” that also abuses its power. Some parties in the House of Representative even suggested to dismiss KPK.
