Minimarket ordered not to open 24 hours during Eid in Solo

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- Surakarta local administration, Central Java has confirmed ban the operating hours of franchise minimarkets for 24 hours in this city during Eid.

"Yes, minimarket managers operating obey the rule, except for those that have permission to open 24 hours," Surakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo said in Solo, Friday (1/7).

He added, the minimarkets which allowed operate 24 hours is only minimarket which located in four locations, namely the Negara Street, provincial roads, the gas station, and nearby the hospital. This rule included in regional regulation (perda) No. 5/2011 on Management of Shopping Centers and Modern Stores.

"Operating hours of minimarket only from 08:00 am to 10:00 pm," he said.

Based on data from the Investment Board and Integrated Licensing (BPMPT), currently there are 21 franchise minimarkets meets the rules to operate for 24 hours.

"So if anyone dare to operate break the rule, the local administration will give sanctions. Could be the revocation of operating licenses," Rudy said.

Relevant agencies were instructed monitoring the operations of the minimarket during the holiday.

"If there is a violation, please immediately closed," said Rudy.

Head BPMPT Toto Amanto explained, so far his agency has not received an application for extension of operational minimarket, during the Eid holiday. Based on the BPMPT record last year, the mayor was gave dispensation to the managers of a number of modern stores could operated to 12:00 pm.

Minimarket can extend operational hours if the mayor allowed. The dispensation was given to minimarkets, which is considered strategic to meet consumer needs for Eid holiday.
