REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order prohibiting Muslims from seven countries to enter US. The order was immediately condemned by many leaders in the world. However, the President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chose to remain silent on the policy.

According to Jokowi, Indonesia was not affected by the policy. "Why it was being asked? We were not affected by the policy," said Jokowi answering the question of reporters after launching the program the Simplicity of Import for Export Purposes (KITE) IKM in Tumang, Cepogo, Boyolali, Central Java, on Monday (30/1).

Jokowi asserted, Indonesian constitutional principle has been clearly and unequivocally fight the equality and justice. However, in the context of the issue, Indonesia was not a country which was affected by the policies of the US President. "The principle of the constitution, I think it was clear that what we call as justice, as equality, should be pursued. But, we were not affected by any of the policy," he said.

Commenting on Jokowi reaction, the Chairman of Wahdah Islamiyah, Zaitun Rasmin, spoke his mind. He regretted on some Islamic countries that did not condemned Trump policy. But, he did not want to intervene their decision. "That was the business of each country. I was not intervene it, please," said Zaitun to Republika.co.id on Tuesday (31/1).

But, he said, it was common for Islamic states in the world to be united. It was including Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world.

He mentioned some country leaders who did not condemn these policies, among others the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Russian President Vledimir Putin. There were also the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and the British Prime Minister, Theresa May.

As information, Trump signed the executive order even before 10 days of being the US President. The order prohibited refugees and Muslims from seven countries to enter US. The seventh countries were Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen.
