LKAAM explains meanings of allegedly Zionist symbol on West Sumatera mosque

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- In the past week, netizens were busy talking ornament in Masjid Raya West Sumatra. The reason was one of the ornaments on Masjid Raya West Sumatra, considered to have similarities with the Zionist symbol.

Chairman of Kerapatan Adat Alam Minangkabau Institute (LKAAM) Sumbar Sayuti explained, each carving located at Masjid Raya Sumbar have meaning. Before the construction of Masjid Raya West Sumatra, carvings and other matters have been discussed by local religious leaders (buya) and consultants.

He stated that on the walls of the mosque, there was indeed triangular ornaments in it, there were six angles. He explained that the ornaments have meaning, the three furnaces ‘sajarangan tiga tali sapilin’. Which means, must adhere to the pillars of faith. "It is a symbol that the community must uphold the pillars of faith," said Sayuti in Padang, on Sunday, May 31.

In addition, he also explained, on the wall, the place to put Quran, there was a carving shape with four corners. The ornaments, interpreted that in the Minangkabau culture as ‘tau di nan ampek’, namely the Quran, the Bible, the Torah and the Psalms. In addition, it also implied meaning; implementation of culture or ‘adat nan ampek, namely adat nan subana adat, adat nan diadatkan, adat nan taradat, and adat istiadat’.

Then, Sayuti explained on the roof of the mosque, describing the shape of the stretch fabric used to carry the Black Stone. Namely, when the story of the four nomadic tribes of the Quraish tribe in Makkah disagreed about who was entitled to move the Black Stone into place after renovation of Kaaba.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Islamic Ulema Council (MUI) of West Sumatera Syamsul Bahri Kahtib said Zionist symbol which were busy discussed was the essence of the three furnaces ‘sajarangan tiga tali sapilin’. It was means, pillars of faith as binding for all the elements that exist in the midst of society.

"Without the practice of the pillars of faith, there will be a jolt for all the people," said Syamsul.
