REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Earthquake victims in Aceh pray tarawih in the beginning of Ramadan shelters because mosques in some areas have already severely damaged. 

Government of Aceh provides 50 large tents to facilitate worship during the holy month of Ramadan. Sorrow does not halt people in Central Aceh district to perform Ramadan  rituals, including Tarawih prayer like in Gute Gelime village. Tengku Amami acts as chaplain. 

Before prayer, Amami delivered his preach. He said this tragedy was a lesson and he asked people in Aceh remained strong and devote to God the Almighty.

"God actually still cares to residents in this area. He only damaged houses and buildings, while many people are still healthy and fit. If the disaster were happen at night, may be many more victims were found as many people were still sleeping. This disaster should be used as a warning that Muslims in Central Aceh and Bener Meriah district might increase their faith to Allah," Amami said.

An earthquake measured 6.2 on the richter scale rocked Meriah regency and Central Aceh at 02.37 PM on Tuesday last week. The quake struck Tuesday afternoon in the depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) and was centered on the far western tip of Sumatra island in Aceh province.
