REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ISTANBUL -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) stated that the US government's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israel's capital has aggravated the regional security issues.
"The US statement will only worsen regional security issues," OIC Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is also the Turkish President, said while leading the summit in Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday.
He stated that the US decision has burned something that has bad impacts.
"I urge all parties to declare that the US stance is not right," he stated.
He remarked that since 1947, the Palestinian territories are narrowing as Israel continues to expand its territory.
"It is the condition on the ground today. Israel continues to do everything that it has been doing since 1947. This is not acceptable at all. The terrorist army captured and killed a child and beat the mother who tried to save her child from the butt of the rifle. This is called terrorism, isn't it?" he questioned.
Erdogan stated that Israel continued to occupy the Palestinian territories and kill but was still rewarded with the support of the US president's decision.
"There are so many countries under the United Nations that have to move together. You may have missiles, fighter jets, and so on for a war. But it is not necessary to show that you are right," he noted.
According to Erdogan, there would not be stability, peace, and prosperity in the region without providing a solution to the Middle East problem.
"This situation needs great joint attention for a common future. Obviously, the US action has violated the international rules," he explained.
"We can no longer be neutral in the face of this development in Jerusalem. We will be supporters of violence against the Palestinians. We must make Palestine a stronger country in the international diplomacy," he added.
According to Erdogan, all parties had to mobilize all their forces in the name of Jerusalem.
"We ask the United States to withdraw its provocative and incorrect decision. I call on all Islamic countries to take this responsibility for the global peace," he stated.
