REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a discussion regarding the management of the integrated mass transportation system with the China Railway Command Center (CRCC) Head Sheng Guangzu, here on Thursday.

President Jokowi commenced his state visit to China by meeting the CRCC head at the center's office.

"I think some major cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, and Makassar should start thinking about implementing the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), or trains. The work on the mass transportation projects must begin immediately," stated President Jokowi after taking a ride on the Beijing Airport Express Train.

On the occasion, President Jokowi held discussions for about half an hour regarding the management of mass transit systems and mass transport connectivity in China, especially in Beijing.

After visiting the China Railway body, the Indonesian president then continued his trip to Dong Zhi Men Station to get a first-hand experience of the mass transportation system's speed and connectivity by boarding the Beijing Airport Express Train.

After boarding the Beijing Airport Express, which is equipped with four cars, President Joko Widodo, the First Lady, and his entourage were taken to Terminal 3 of Beijing International Capital Airport.

Within about 25 minutes, the president and his entourage arrived at Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport.

Train journey can reduce travel time by half an hour as compared to using a car or a taxi that usually takes an hour if there is no congestion.

On the same day, President Joko Widodo will also hold a meeting with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jin Ping and Madam Peng Liyuan at The Great Hall of The People.

Documents on bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and China will be signed during the meeting.
