REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDAR LAMPUNG - Although the volcano's activity of Mount Anak Krakatau in Sunda Strait was increasing on Sunday, observation post in Lampung cannot observe the volcanic activities due to the damaged seismic monitoring equipment.

"We cannot observe it directly. The equipment in around Krakatau has not been repaired yet," the Head of observation post in South Lampung, Andi Suardi, said. The damage occurred when Mount Anak Krakatau showed the increasing volcanic activity on Sunday.

Staff in Hargo Pancuran observation post cannot also observe the mountain due to thick fog. Observation can only be done in observation post located in Anyer, Banten.

The number of eruptions in Mount Anak Krakatau, he said, had decreased. But, the status is still on alert. People, fisherman, and tourists cannot go anywhere within two-kilometer radius of the volcano`s crater.
