REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director of Heritage and Cultural Diplomacy of Indonesia's Ministry of Education and Culture Nadjamuddin Ramly said the government plan to limit the number of visitors to Borobudur Temple platform.

"We will restrict the number of visitors allowed to enter the Borobudur Temple platform because it's construction is only able support 15 visitors at the same time," Nadjamuddin said, Tuesday (30/8).

Usually, visitors who climbed up to the temple platform reach hundreds of people. If this condition continued, it could ruin the temple faster than it's natural pace.

Beside tourist, corporate also took part in endangering Borobudur Temple. "Some time ago, the beverage company Redbull made video clips in Borobudur Temple without permission. We have protested and they apologized. As sanction, they have to do social action," he added.

In addition to limiting the number of visits, the ministry will create buffer zone in the Borobudur and Prambanan Temple. The aim is to conserve the heritage of the world. He admitted keeping the Borobudur and Prambanan Temples which declared as world heritage site since 25 years ago, is not easy.

"Many people littering, filming without permission, and even pee in the temple area" he said.
