REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PASAMAN BARAT -- Ricardo Garcia, part of the Kinan Cycling Team Japan, emerged as the fastest rider in the third stage of the 2016 Tour de Singkarak held in West Sumatra Province on Monday.

The Spanish rider finished first, clocking eight hours 20 minutes and 48 seconds, seven seconds faster than Amir Kolahdouz of Pishgaman Cycling Team who was the runners up, and Dadi Suryadi of Terrengganu Cycling Team, who was the second runners up.

With this result, Garcia deserved the yellow jersey, previously held by Dylan Newberry, and topped the rider standings on the third day of the 2016 Tour de Singkarak cycling road race.

"As a rider, the best one can do is to bag the yellow jacket. Indeed, it requires hard work and good team work," Garcia said.

Garcia, whose starting number is 13, also deserved to wear the green jersey as he won the sprints on the third stage, starting from Pasaman to Pasaman Barat.

With 30 points, Garcia topped the sprints standings so far.

Amir Kolahdouz of Pishgaman Cycling Team Iran became the King of Mountain, holding the polka dot jersey, until the third stage with 37 points.

Kolahdouz and Dadi Suryadi might become the hardest contenders for Garcia in the fourth stage as the two are specialized in the climb.

The fourth stage of Tour de Singkarak will feature a tough and highest hors category climb at Puncak Lawang or the Lawang Peak.

Meanwhile, Dadi Suryadi is holding the red and white jersey in the third stage as the fastest national rider.
