REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said the government has a strong commitment to build tourism in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. One of them by forming a Tourism Authority Board of Komodo, Labuan Bajo.
"Mr. RR (Rizal Ramli, red) was in Labuan Bajo and plans that on Wednesday we will have discussions on the finalization of the Agency for Tourism Authority of Komodo. If this (the Agency Tourism Authority, red) is completed, then the tourism development Komodo will be faster," said Arief Yahya after delivery of the prize winners of the writing, photos, videos and blog Flores Tourism, on Monday (27/6) in Jakarta.
Komodo Island Flores is one of 10 priority tourism destinations. Tourism Authority Board established that the management of the tourist destination more coordinated so they can grow faster.
Tourism Authority Board is authorized to build basic infrastructure such as airports, highways, and so forth. At present, the development of infrastructure in areas of tourist destination is running slow because there is an overlap of various government institutions.
"We will finalize authority of agency. The agency will build primarily on amenities, we will invite private company or foreign investors to invest their money," said Arief.
Ministry of Tourism said, we already have a land area of 440 hectares that are ready to be built diverse amenities like resorts, hotels and so forth.
"Why foreign investors? Besides being able invest their money here, they will also bring in tourists," said the Ministry of Tourism.
Nevertheless, according Ministry of Tourism, the development in Flores, Komodo Island in particular should be limited. Almost all diving sites in Labuan Bajo included in the premium category. "Because it must be limited, otherwise it will be destroyed," said Ministry of Tourism. Besides amenities, another thing to note is the accessibilities.
“We would need an international airport in Komodo, if there are no airports, then Komodo will not be a major destination," said Menpar.
Writing contest, photos and videos of Flores said the Ministry of Tourism, is to promote Flores as one of the leading tourist destinations in Indonesia and to encourage the increase of tourist visits to East Nusa Tenggara as well as support programs and the Wonderful Indonesia brand.
"Writing contest, photos, videos, and blog of East Nusa Tenggara tourism is a potential that can be promoted to the fullest," said Arief Yahya saying, promotion of good impact to the acceleration in the realization of Labuhan Bajo as “New Bali” will increase tourist visits to East Nusa Tenggara.
