1,000 artists from 14 countries enliven Purwakarta World Festival

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - 1,000 artists from 14 countries enlivened ‘Purwakarta World Festival’ in Purwakarta, West Java. The artists would be showing arts and cultures performance from their own countries.

Purwakarta Regent, Dedi Mulyadi, said the event of Purwakarta World Festival was the culmination of 184th anniversary of Purwakarta and 47th anniversary of  Purwakarta regency.

"Purwakarta World Festival will be so festive. This event has been eagerly awaited by our community," he said, in Purwakarta.

The 14 countries that sent its artists, were  Italy, Mexico, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, India, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia.

Purwakarta World Festival was also performed arts and cultural performances from various regions in Indonesia. It was from Madura, Maluku, and Bali.

From Bali, they performed Sendratari of the Resurrection of Siliwangi. Purwakarta performed Genye dance that was using a stick as a property in the dance.
