REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Surabaya city government in East Java will organize a culture and flower parade to enliven the commemoration of the city's 722nd anniversary in May 2015.
Unlike in the previous year, the parade will be held in the morning, Assistant I to Secretary of the city government Yayuk Eko Agustin said here on Friday.
"If the parade is held in the afternoon, like in previous years, it will be less lively because it will be close to night. But, if it is held in the morning, we will have a relatively long time," she explained.
In addition, if the parade is held in the morning, flowers will still be fresh and so will be the air. The public can also watch the parade for longer time, she remarked.
The parade will be held from Heroes Monument to Surya Park.
The route will be a little different from that of the previous year. The parade will start from the same venue, Heroes Monument. Fashion models participating in the parade will start from Trimurti Senior High School.
The parade will finish at Surya Park but not all participants will stop there. "From Surya Park, flower parade cars will turn right and pass through several roads including Ahmad Yani Street. We have prepared two routes to give the public enough opportunities to watch the flower parade," she stressed.
