REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIANJUR -- Government plans to promote Gunung Padang Megalithic site as a world class tourist destination. It is the biggest megalithic site in Southeast Asia built at least at 7000 BC.

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya said it would be easy to popularize the site that is located in Cianjur city. "We will label it as Indonesian masterpiece," Yahya said after visiting Gunung Padang, Thursday, November 20.

The former CEO of State Enterprise PT Telkom is interested in Gunung Padang due to its historical and social value. People living near the area preserve the site and the megalithic stone. "It has a great value with so much potential," he said.

Vice Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar agrees with the minister. "We will make Gunung Padang as a world class tourism destination," he said. However, government needs to build infrastructure to ease tourists who visit the site.
