The arrest of Deputy Chief of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bambang Widjojanto, by Police raised negative perception from public. The case used to seize Widjojanto is seen suspicious. It conveys, just like Indonesian proverbs, there is a shrimp behind the stone. There is a hidden motive behind an act.

As seen from the news, investigator followed and seized Bambang Widjojanto on Friday at 07:30 WIB in Depok, West Java. Wearing white Muslim shirt, saroong and Muslim cap, he was taking his son to school. When he was arrested, his daughter accompanied him.

His arrest was due to a report from Politician of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Sugianto Sabran. He accused Widjojanto for giving a false testimony in Constitutional Court during a trial of Kotawaringin Barat Regional Election. Widjojanto was a lawyer at that time.

Sugianto Sabran reported the similar case in 2010. However, Police didn't follow up the case. For reason unknown, Sugianto Sabran reported the similar case in January 19, 2015. Amazingly, it needed only four days for Police to process his report and arrest Widjojanto.

The shocking seizure raised questions. Some assumed that the case was intentionally brought up. Former Deputy Chief of Police Oegroseno even said that the case was imaginary. "This is imaginary. Definitively unreal," Oegreseno said as cited from Antara. "It is only four days. Very fast," he said.

Some also connected the arrest to the recent case involving candidate of Police Chief Budi Gunawan. KPK named Budi Gunawan as a suspect for suspicious bank account in January 13, not long after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo named him as a candidate for police chief. Public sees it as a revenge.

Some people thought that certain parties used police as an institution for their own interest. "President must issue a statement that bans people to use police institution to damage inter-institution relationship," a scholar from Andalas University Saldi Isra said.

President Jokowi indeed issues a formal statement on the matter. But he seemed very careful. During press conference in Bogor Palace, the president, backed by PDIP, only issued a short statement. The point is that he asked Police and KPK to ensure that law must be objective and based on the rules.

"As a head of state, I ask Police and KPK to avoid friction," Jokowi said during press conference. He was accompanied by Chief of KPK Abraham Samad and Deputy Police Chief Badrodin Haiti. "We hope everyone, especially media, to deliver things objectively," he added.

The statement is somehow powerless. Jokowi seemed unassertive. However, we should agree that there should be no friction between those institutions.

Public still expects him to seek solution for the conflict. Jokowi is also expected to do what he warned, solving the problem objectively. DO not let people judge that there is "shrimp" behind Jokowi's stance towards KPK and Police.
