REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- The Ministry of Education and Culture is technically ready to remake the G30S / PKI movie if being ordered by President Joko Widodo, Director General of Culture Hilmar Farid stated.
He asserted the massacre commited by Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) could not be erased from history. Even if it was bitter, the event must be recognized.
"Actually, the real issue is communicating such stories to the generation that is not experiencing, having different views, different interests and different concerns," he said to Republika.co.id, after delivering speech in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Monday night.
Hilmar said the president only wanted to communicate the same history to the different generation. "We are technically ready if the president ordered to perform the remake of G30S / PKI," he said.
He ensured there will be no twist of meaning in the remake version. "But, so far, the remake of G30S / PKI is still a discourse, far from realization," he said.
