House leaders to follow up aspirations of 299 rally

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- House of Representatives leaders Agus Hermanto and Fadli Zon said they would follow up aspirations from 299 mass rally. Both of them promised to convey it to all factions in parliament and government.

"We are thankful to all critics and suggestions that been given," Agus said after meeting representative of 299 mass rally at Parliament office in Jakarta, Friday (September 29).

In the dialogue, representatives of 299 rally led by Chairman of Presidium of 212 Rally Alumni Slamet Maarif conveyed their aspirations on their rejection to the lieu of law (Perppu) No.2 of 2017 on Mass Organizations and against resurgence of Indonesian Communist party (PKI)..

Slamet said Perppu No.2/2017 was contradictory with Article 22 of 1945 Constitution. He also emphasized government must prevent all forms of communism which not impossible to raise in this country.

However, Agus said he agreed that the latent danger of communism and the rise of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) should be wary of. 

He also emphasized that in terms of legislation, Temporary People's Consultative Assembly Decree (TAP MPRS) No. 25/1966 on the banning of communism in Indonesia is still valid, and would not be revoked.
