REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jatibaru Street will not be reopened soon. Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the second phase arrangement of Tanah Abang area to be done gradually. In the early stage, Jakarta provincial government to focus on the construction of skybridge and revitalization of Block G building.

In the meantime, Sandiaga said the merchants of Block G will be relocated to temporary shelter. "Jatibaru Street can not be opened until the skybridge is finish," Sandiaga said at Block B Tanah Abang market, Central Jakarta, on Monday (April 23).

Sandiaga admitted the process will be time consuming. During the construction of skybridge, Jatibaru Street will still be closed.

"Later, when the bridge is done, we will monitor the condition," he said.

The second phase arrangement of Tanah Abang market will affect the traders who have been relocated to Jatibaru Street. They will be relocated to a place decided by PD Pasar Jaya and PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya.

"During transition process, the traders on Jatibaru Street will be relocated to a new place without neglecting the convenience for pedestrians," he said.

Earlier, President Director of PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya Yoory C Pinontoan said the construction of Tanah Abang skybridge can be started in August. The project will cost Rp50 billion.

However, Sandiaga has asked PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya to speed up the administration process. He urged the skybridge construction to be started in June so it can be finished in February 2019.

The skybridge will connect Tanah Abang station and Block G Tanah Abang market.
