Indonesia offers railway technology to Senegal

Indonesia to assist Senegal in operating and maintaining its freight railway project.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Indonesian Government offered technology transfer to Senegal. By doing so, Senegal would have the ability in operating and maintaining its freight railway project.

"Indonesia will help promote to enable Senegal has the tools and skills in the field of operation and maintenance of freight trains," said Indonesia Ambassador to Dakar, Mansyur Pangeran in London, UK on Tuesday (April 17).

Senegal is currently in the process of reviving rail transport mode to increase efficiency, also contribute to state income. Mansyur said Senegal has high interest to Indonesian rail industry.

"We must take this investment opportunity quickly before other countries," he said.

According to Mansyur, Senegal is currently developing two types of railway transport modes, namely fast train (Train Express Regional) and a-1500 km freight train. The freight railway project as a "logistic hub" to transport mining products, agriculture, food and facilitate the flow of goods circulation.

Earlier, Minister for Development of Senegal National Railway Network, Ndene Sall, expressed hopes that Indonesia would contribute in helping to improve the level of knowledge and skills in the rail sector of Senegal as well as the various protocols required to start operations and maintenance. He said that to President Director of PT. Inka, Budi Noviantoro, during a visit to Madiun.

Budi said PT Inka will provide train maintenance training program to Senegal at full cost from the company. As a first step as Ndene Sall expressed, Senegal will buy 10 railroad locomotives through a third party estimated to arrive in Senegal in early 2019. He also said would deliver technical specifications related to the size of rail and rail as required.
