Anies releases survey, audit results of buildings

Only one of 77 buildings obey the rules regarding the use of ground water.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan released the results of surveys and audits related to absorption wells, wastewater treatment plants (IPAL) and ground water utilization of 80 high-rise buildings on Sudirman - Thamrin street, Central Jakarta. Based on the results, there is only one of 77 buildings that obeyed the rules regarding the use of ground water.

Meanwhile, the rules related to absorption wells facility as required are not fulfilled. "These violations occurred not because they need, but they have the nature of greed," Anies said on Wednesday (April 11).

Anies said of 77 building that were audited during March 12 to 21, there were only 40 buildings that facilitated with absorption wells. However, ironically from 40 buildings, there is only one that all facilities in accordance with Gubernatorial Decree (Pergub) No. 20/2013 on absorption wells.

Jakarta Provincial Government would give time to fix all the violation for one month. After the deadline, Anies said the evaluation will be announced to public and he also threatened to revoke permission if the buildings management could not fix the violations.

"The managements of buildings are given one mont to fix the violations, to comply with all existing regulations," Anies added.

Earlier, Anies has oversaw the visit of supervision team for the supply of absorption wells for wastewater and ground water treatment plant to high-rise buildings. The team visited a number of buildings at Thamrin - Sudirman area on March 12.

Anies instructed the team to monitor 80 buildings in Sudirman - Thamrin street until March 21. "It's like a raid at the high buildings, to make sure the managements obey all the rules," Anies explained on March 12.
