REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Central Executive Board (DPP) chairman Almuzammil Yusuf said his party is determined in proposing alternative presidential candidate in 2019 election. Together with Gerindra Party, he said they have reached minimum requirement of 20 percent seats at House of Representatives (DPR) to enable their plan.

Muzammil said PKS and Gerindra have not set any detail on the criteria of alternative presidential candidate. The most important thing, he said, the figure is supported and agreed by coalition party.

"Most importantly, the figure is indeed supported and agreed by the coalition party," said Almuzammil.

He said PKS had been conducting dialogues with prospective coalition partner. Aside of Gerindra Party, National Mandate Party (PAN) will be PKS next's priority target. Muzammil expected PKS and Gerindra coalition could be even greater to open up bigger chances in 2019 presidential election.

Muzammil said every partner in the coalition have the same opportunity to propose presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate. Meanwhile, Gerindra Party has showed its firmness in re-nominating its chief patron Prabowo Subianto as presidential candidate in 2019 election. However, PKS as Gerindra Party coalition since 2014 decided to not support Prabowo.

On the other hand, chairman of Central Board of Gerindra Party, Ahmad Riza Patria believed PKS knew Prabowo was their key to win the election. He said Gerindra would not change the decision about presidential candidate.

"I believe PKS understand that Prabowo is the one whose able to win against Jokowi," he stated.
