No priority list yet on Jokowi's running mate candidates

PDIP is not in a hurry in announcing Jokowi's running mate in presidential election.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has not set its top priority vice presidential candidates. However, the party has been able to shorten its long list.

"So far, we did not have priority list yet," the party executive, Hendrawan Supratikno said.

Hendrawan explained PDIP needed time and test period to sort Jokowi's running mate candidates into priority list. The candidates have a diverse backgrounds, whether from coalition parties or outside party supporters. 

"Of course, our cadres' name are among them," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Sunday (March 18).

Nevertheless, Hendrawan reluctant to mention the names. He said PDIP not in a hurry in announcing Jokowi's pair in 2019 presidential election. 

According to Hendrawan, the number of pair of candidates in the election will determine the figure of Jokowi's running mate. Therefore, all possibilities of vice presidential candidates should be maintained and nourished with hope.

Chairwoman of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, has used her prerogative right to appoint Joko Widodo or Jokowi as the presidential candidate for 2019 elections. She made the announcement during the party's third national working meeting in Denpasar, Bali, held on February 23.
