REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and Gerindra Party are still undecided over candidates to run for the presidency in 2019 General Election. The coalition agreed to discuss all possibilities about the president and vice president candidate.

PKS chairman Sohibul Iman said some names circulated in their radar, including Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gatot Nurmayanto, and also West Nusa Tenggara Governor M. Zainul Majdi or usually called Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB). "PKS and Gerindra still communicate which candidate pairs to be chosen," Sohibul said to Republika.co.id, on Tuesday (March 13) night.

Sohibul said Gerindra Party will surely support for Prabowo's presidential candidacy. However, PKS have nine other names.

"And if National Mandate Party (PAN) and National Awakening Party (PKB) join our coalition, we also must consider their candidates, namely Zulkifli Hasan and Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin respectively," he said.

PAN and PKB have established communication with PKS and Gerindra Party. Sohibul said the discussion was important for PKS to find an alternative pair of candidate other than Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his running mate from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) axis. He stressed it is necessary in order to avoid empty box on the election.

"So there will be no candidate pair named empty box," said Sohibul.

Sohibul said there are many possibilities, depend on situation and condition. PKS coalition not in a rush although other political axis has already announced the candidate and build coalition forces.
