Habibie is currently being treated at the Starnberg Clinic hospital for a leaky heart valve condition, according to his personal secretary Rubijanto.

Rubijanto said on Saturday (March 3) the health condition of the former Indonesian president began deteriorating on Feb 27. At the time, Habibie was experiencing difficulty in breathing and was then immediately examined by a doctor.

The team of doctors diagnosed Habibie with a leaky heart valve, resulting in a fluid buildup of 1.5 liters in the lungs.

The doctors have advised him to undergo heart surgery immediately. However, Habibie chose to undergo a medical procedure using more sophisticated methods.
