REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Narcotics Agency (BNN) chief Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso 'Buwas' asked Jakarta Provincial Government to close 36 discotheque or nightclubs in the capital city. He revealed the nightclubs indicated as location of narcotics and drugs distribution.

Nevertheless, Buwas refused to disclose names of the nightclubs. The data will be given to Anies Baswedan if the Jakarta governor has the willingness to act seriously.

"Our country needs action. If Jakarta Provincial Government seriously will close the nightclubs, I will give the data. If not, so be it," said Buwas on Thursday (Feb 22).

Buwas said that ahead of a meeting with Anies. He said BNN has investigated 36 nightclubs in Jakarta.

"I ordered my staffs to buy (narcotics and drugs) from 36 nightclubs in Jakarta and all succeeded. They got ecstasy and methamphetamine. I can't give detail information on the places," Buwas added.

He asked akarta Provincial Government to be consistent as well as committed to act in combating illicit drug trafficking. Buwas said the data also will be given to Central Java Narcotics Agency (BNNP) due to the territory rules.

"I give it to BNNP because I can't step over it, but I'm ready to meet (Anies) related to those 36 nightclubs and I hope there will be further action. If not I don't want to (meet)," Buwas explained.

On Wednesday (Feb 21), Anies remarked that he will not show any leniency towards businesses in a bid to stop the rampant flow of drugs into the capital region.

"The point is if there is a violation, do not expect us to not take action," he pointed out.

Anies had earlier stated that 36 entertainment venues, spread across five areas of the capital city, had been proven to conduct illegal drug trafficking practices.
