REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) reopens the registration for 13 thousand volunteers to all Indonesian people through its website http://volunteer.asiangames2018.id.

"We need 13 thousand volunteers that will be divided into 11 thousand people for placement in Jakarta and two thousand in Palembang," said Pusparani Hakim, Director for the Human Resources and Volunteers affairs of INASGOC, here on Wednesday.

According to her, the volunteers will be divided into four task categories, namely assistant protocols that will accompany important foreign guests, escort delegates of Asian Games participating countries including officials and athletes, inter-agency links, and general assignment in the field.

The candidates of volunteers will undergo selection which will be handled by ten state institutions, so they are free from criminal involvement.

Apart from that, Pusparani said that 1,574 people have already passed the volunteers selection for the Asian Games match trials that will be carried out on February 10-24.

The 1,574 volunteers have also undergone training held by the INASGOC with regard to their assignments.

"Around 300 out of 1,574 volunteers are foreign nationals who hail from Asian countries and also from Russia and Australia," she explained, adding that the Asian Games volunteers will get uniforms, training, and certificates from INASGOC.

Previously, the INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir said that his side requires volunteers aged between 18 and 40 for supporting the implementation of the Asian Games.

The registration is offered free of charge for citizens who want to become Asian Games volunteers.

The candidates who register should not give anything to the selection committee.

"We also accommodate volunteers who understand Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese languages," he remarked.
