REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four suspects in an alleged graft case related to the construction of a regional general hospital (RSUD) in the Hulu Sungai Tengah District, South Kalimantan Province.
The suspects were questioned by the KPK for 24 hours, KPK chief Agus Rahardjo said during a press briefing here on Friday.
Three of the suspects are believed to have received bribes. They are: the Hulu Sungai Tengah district head, identified by his initials as AL; chief of the chamber of commerce and industry of Hulu Sungai Tengah chapter, identified as FR; and the president director of PT Sugwira Agung, identified as AB. The president director of PT Menara Agung, identified as DW, is suspected of giving the bribes.
"He is suspected of giving fees related to the construction of class I, II, VIP and super VIP treatment rooms at RSUD Damanhuri, Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah district," Agus said.
The alleged fee amounts to Rp3.6 billion or 7.5 percent of the project value, added Agus.
The anti-graft body monitored communication among the parties allegedly involved in the case, after finding a deficit of Rp50 billion in the project.
To ensure smooth payment, the suspects promised to give the company another big project, including the construction of an intensive care unit at the hospital in the budget year 2018.
