KPK hopes Setya Novanto fit to stand trial

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said House of Representatives (DPR) speaker Setya Novanto will face inaugural session at Corruption Court on December 13. The anti-graft institution hoped that Novanto in good health condition until the trial day.

"Before the trial, he will be examined first, whether he is fit to stand trial," said Deputy Chairman of KPK Laode M. Syarif on Monday (December 11).

He added, in the inaugural session KPK would prove Novanto's involvement in e-ID card procurement graft case

Will the inaugural session void Novanto's pretrial motion? Laode said, the anti-graft body hands it over to the court and the judge.

"From the very beginning, we believed (Novanto's involvement), but about pretrial suit, we leave it to the court to determine it." Laode commented.

Inaugural session of e-ID card procurement corruption case will be lead by judge Yanto who is the chairman of Central Jakarta district court.

Meanwhile, the members of the panel of judges are Frangki Tambuwun, Emilia Djajasubagja, Ad-hoc judge Anwar and Ansyori Syaifudin. The substitute clerks are Roma Siallagan, Martin, and Yuris.

Novanto was re-appointed as a suspect in e-ID card graft case on November 3. He once named as suspect in July but later has succeeded invalid his status by winning a pretrial motion on September 29.

His lawyer filed another pretrial motion to the same court. It was handled by single judge Kusno and the hearing was still on process.
