REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOUTH TANGERANG -- Lawyer of Setya Novanto, Fredrich Yunadi asked Vice President Jusuf Kalla not to comment on his client decision for not attending the summon of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Fredrich explained, Novanto took his lawyers advise to miss the summon to be questioned as suspect in e-ID card procurement graft case on Wednesday. His team of lawyers believed permission from the president should be aquired first.
Beside that, Fredrich said as House of Representatives speaker, Novanto has Parliamentary immunity.
"Pak JK should not made a comment saying Novanto did not need permission from president when he had to be examined by KPK. It's ridiculous. Who's making an uproar then? Was it me? I'm just doing my job," he said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Jusuf Kalla urged Novanto to obey the law.
His comment came after hearing Novanto's refuseal to attend KPK summon.
"He must obey the law, do not make it up like that," said JK after inaugurating the Irradiator Gamma Merah Putih at Puspitek Serpong, South Tangerang on Wednesday (November 15).
