REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A week after leaving Premier Hospital Jatinegara, Setya Novanto has not fully recovered, his lawyer Frederich Yunadi said.

Therefore, he could not fullfill a summon to testify as a witness at the trial of e-ID card corruption case defendant Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong at the Jakarta Corruption Court, on Monday. The House of Representatives Speaker was one of seven witnesses to be presented by general prosecutor of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Novanto has not totally recovered from his illness. He still need to consult to the doctor," Yunadi said on Monday.

Nevertheless, Novanto was able to attend the meeting with 27 chairman of the Regional Executive Board (DPD) I Golkar Party at Darmawangsa Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday (October 6).

The Golkar party chairman has left Premier Hospital in Jatinegara, East Jakarta on October 2. He was treated for heart problem, increased blood sugar level and other health problems.

He has previously also missed KPK summonses for questioning as a suspect on September 11 and 18 citing illness. But later on September 29, he has succeeded with a pretrial motion and invalid the suspect status on his e-ID graft case.

Novanto has been named a suspect in e-ID case in July, which incurred an estimated Rp 2.3 million in state losses. He allegedly played a key role in a plan to swindle funds earmarked for the project.

Meanwhile, Andi Narogong allegedly involved in the granting of bribes related to process of budgeting e-ID card in House of Representatives fro 2011-2013 budget year. In addition, he also played a role in directing and winning PNRI Consortium to be the implementer of the procurement of e-ID card.

Andi allegedly arranged the procurement in e-ID card project together with Novanto. However, he denied it and even claimed only knew Novanto through a business cooperation in 2009.
