REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metro Police said 10 thousand people are expected to join 299 rally on Friday. The rally is predicted to be held in two locations, namely Monas and Istiqlal Mosque.

"The participants (of 299 rally) are about 10 thousand people," said Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono to Republika.co.id, on Wednesday.

Although the amount of mass is quite large, but this rally is not potentially chaotic, he insisted. He said 20 thousand police officers consisting of various units in the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will be deployed to guard the 29 September rally.

"About 20 thousand personnel from brimob, intelligence, detective, officers of mass control and military to be deployed," Argo said.

The deployment of 20 thousand personnel is a common thing in securing the capital city when massive mass action takes place, he explained. "We are not underestimated, we are overestimated just for the security of the capital," he said.

The deployment of personnel is also a part of regular procedure commonly conducted by the police to secure the capital, based on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). "To secure the capital we have SOPs," Argo added.

Presidium of Alumni 212 planned to stage a rally to reject the lieu of law (Perppu) No. 2 Year of 2017 on Mass Organization (Ormas) and against resurgence of Indonesian Communist party (PKI). The rally will be held in front of Parliament building on Friday (September 29).

"We bring no other topic than those two points," Chairman of the presidium, Slamet Maarif,  said in a press conference at Roundhouse of Sunda Kelapa mosque, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.
