KPK to present corroborating evidence on Setnov pre-trial

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Febri Diansyah said legal team of the anti-graft body will present corroborating evidence on the determination of House Speaker Setya Novanto (Setnov) as suspect in alleged procurement of electronic ID card (KTP-el) at pre-trial hearing scheduled on Friday (September 22).

"Agenda of the hearing on Friday is to hear explanation from KPK, so we will answer it clearly and convey strong reason," he said when being contacted on Thursday.

KPK, said Febri, will present a number of experts and provide evidences in the pre-trial. He said, there will be criminal expert to explain criminal aspect on the case and constitutional law expert to show state losses caused by the case.

"We believe the judge will buy it and it will be supported by proofing process for several days starting from next Monday," he said.

Setnov filed a pre-trial lawsuit against KPK after the anti-graft body named him as suspect in the alleged e-ID card procurement corruption case. This case caused state losses up to Rp 2,3 trillion. 

So far, the KPK has set five suspect related to the this case. They included former director general of poppulation and civil registry of Ministry of Home Affairs Irman, director of data and information of Ministry of Home Affairs. Both have been sentenced by the Panel of Justice Corruption Court of Jakarta, each seven years dan five years in prison. 

Then the businessman Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong who currently undergoing trial in the Corruption Court of Jakarta. And ths latest members of the house of representative of Golkar Fraction Markus Nari.
