REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has decided to postpone the launch of the 16th economic policy package indefinitely due to unfavorable conditions, a presidential spokesman said.

"The announcement of the 16th economic policy package has been postponed. I do not know when it will be announced," the president's special staff for communication, Johan Budi, stated in the Presidential Palace compounds here on Monday.

The government had originally planned to announce the economic policy package after the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of Indonesian Independence on Aug 17.

"(The package policy) is actually aimed at changing our work procedures in the government, in case of investment proposals," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution noted on Aug 14.

Under the new policy package, the government will assign each ministry and non-ministerial institution with a task force to guard and settle investment permits, he revealed.

In addition to ministries and non-ministerial government institutions, the policy package will also provide directives to regional governments to follow the same.

The economic policy package is also directed toward assisting prospective investors in various industrial sectors to arrange permits at central and regional levels, he explained.

The 15th economic policy package was issued on June 15, 2017, to develop the businesses and competitiveness of national logistic service providers.

The 16th economic policy package will deal with the effort to strengthen "Indonesia National Single Window" (INSW).
